Soekarno - Hatta Airport would no longer be a final destination airport, but a transit airport.

Just one step away from having a new terminal, Terminal 3 Ultimate (T3U), Soekarno-Hatta Airport is projected to be on par with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and Singapore’s Changi Airport. Improvements to facilities and a growing number of passengers have boosted the airport’s ability to compete with the two neighbouring international airports. The development of T3U is a strategy of PT Angkasa Pura II, the operator of Soekarno Hatta Airport, to improve its services to passengers, and take over as the best airport in ASEAN. Angkasa Pura II’s President Director Budi Karya Sumadi said that with the operation of the T3U, Soekarno - Hatta Airport would no longer be a final destination airport, but a transit airport. The company will increase the number of international direct flights to achieve this objective, and increase the number of passengers to and from overseas. The terminal will house enough departure gatesto handle 25 million passengers a year. Public transport such as airport trains and light rail transit (LRT) Jakarta will be developed to support the operation of the airport.
